A gal loving life & making every moment count!
Lover of wild places & the open road…
Welcome! I appreciate that you have popped in for a visit. Relax. Put your feet up. Let’s have a conversation…
Starting with the name of this site. It’s provocative – and that’s purposeful.
It initially refers to the fact that “any fool can be uncomfortable”. I am, of course, a great advocate of the great outdoors – but believe that, with a wee bit of effort, the intelligent among us will find a way to be comfortable wherever we are. In that way, there is ‘just enough’. The wilderness will always be the star attraction, but comfortable accommodation will always provide a worthy supporting role.
It is also all about the off-road part of this blog being rough enough to provide excitement, yet not result in damage – to vehicles or the environment.
“Writing is a process, a journey into memory and the soul.” Isabel Allende
The first time you take the journey is in your imagination, via books and maps. The real journey will then alter perceptions and allow you to fully be in the moment. The third time you take the journey is when you write of it, reliving it, seeing the journey via your memory and with insight gained by time. The retelling of the tale so that others may join you along the way. The sharing of my travels with others gives me great pleasure. It’s a way to connect and reach kindred spirits the world over.
A freelance writer and motoring journalist, an author and photojournalist, a field guide and now a blogger; the English language and nature’s beauty have been lifelong passions of mine. This site is about sharing my journeys and encouraging you to take your own. More than ever before, now is the time to explore our corner of the world.
Use this blog as a place to dream or a resource to plan, to discover new places or to revisit old spots, to read the tales or as an escape in which you travel virtually.
I am intoxicated by this continent – I hope to share this passion with you.
